Ok, so its been a while! I don’t really have much of an excuse, other than having been absolutely flat out. I haven’t yet had a chance to even finishing going through all the photos from my holiday, which seems like an eternity ago. Hopefully ‘Soon’ – whenever that may be.
But some better news!
The Northern Combine cycling organisation is in the midst of running their 3 Day Tour. A fantastic event, wonderful run, every year drawing out racers to pit themselves against one another, as well as the winter elements, with 4 stages held over the 3 days of the Queens Birthday long-weekend. Unfortunately I could only make it out there for one day, but I did manage to make sure that I got my proverbial moneys worth – taking in 2 stages today.
Todays first stage (stage 2) was an individual time trial. The race of Truth. An individual effort against the clock. Here is a chance to garner valuable seconds or even minutes against everyone else, so there is plenty of suffering to be had. The deeper you can go into your little box of hurt, the more likely you are to do well in this event. (well that and some aero gear never hurt either). There was 2 courses for this stage, a 5km challenge for Mens C and D, and Womens B grade, while Mens A and B along with Womens A tackled an undulating 8km that steadily climbed out of Lancefield.
The second stage was a road race, photos and deatils regarding that should be following shortly.
