SKCC Crits – 4 Nov
I’ve been wanting to get back to shooting bike racing for a while, and now that the summer crit season is in full effect, there’s plenty on to get out and shoot. Whilst I love cycling, and shooting racing, another part of the drive was to put some new equipment through its paces.

Inevitably life gets in the way of such wants, but I was finally able to get into the city bright and early on sunday morning to shoot the St Kilda Cycling Club Crits. Sunday mornings offer a choice of racing locations in Melbourne and the SKCC Crit is one of the more popular ones, running 3 Womens races and about 5 Mens races.
The 3 Womens races ran concurrently, along with E Grade mens, which was predominantly a training race in a controlled environment. Next came the Mens B & D grades, finally followed by the Mens A & C grades.
Racing was exciting, with breaks going early to mid race, and staying away in the Womens B and Mens D grades. Similarly the break was away in Mens B grade before a crash marred the final few laps, and so the break got to stay away.
Time came to be against me, so while I didnt get to stay for the Mens A & C races , but I did manage to sneak a few shots off whilst getting back to the car. As always, a great event put on by St Kilda Cycling Club and their supporters. Get down there for a coffee and some great entertainment one Sunday!
